Eldon MurrayEldon Murray has provided many years of volunteer service to seniors in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Eldon has been a gay activist since the beginning of the Gay Liberation Movement and is recognized nationwide as a pioneer in that movement.
In 1994, he founded SAGE in Milwaukee (Senior Action in a Gay Environment), which was Wisconsin’s first organization devoted to issues surrounding aging in the community. He was one of the founders of the Gay People’s Union (GPU), the first major gay liberation organization in Milwaukee.
Mr. Murray has received numerous awards and recognition for his efforts in the gay community, such as the Pridefest’s Stonewall Award for outstanding service to Milwaukee’s gay and lesbian community and the Human Rights League’s Cream City Brick Award. He was elected to the Cream City Business Association’s Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 1986. In 1998, the One Institute and International Gay and Lesbian Archives honored Eldon as one of 31 pioneers in the gay movement.
The dedication of his life to activism and service on the part of the gay and lesbian population, and now in his later years to their aging issues, has clearly benefited the Milwaukee community.

The spectacular opening ceremony of the Gay Games in Cologne today starts the biggest LGBT sports and cultural event in the world – with over 9500 participants taking part in 34 sports and cultural events over a week of friendly competition in Cologne from 31 July to 8th August. See www.games-cologne.com
In addition to the participants, there are also friends, family, volunteers and spectators which can double the number of people at the event.
Many of the sports have age categories so that you compete with people of your own age group but even if you’re not competing, there is still plenty of activity and many of those who are taking part or spectating are seniors or senior admirers.
So to help them all to meet each other Paul (who is competing in the sailing regatta) has suggested we all meet up at 6pm on Wednesday 4th August at:
Bar MyLord
Mühlenbach 57
51147 Köln, Deutschland

(500 metres from the Heumarkt tram stop)

While checking out the sauna’s in Vienna the other day I came across a real jewel of a place. I had the real pleasure of finding a wonderful place to relax and unload all my tensions the other day. Yes Vienna has a number of Sauna’s located all over the place but one you should not miss is the Sauna Frisco. http://www.sauna-frisco.at It is located at Schonbrunner Strasse 28 / 1050 Wien. It is close to all the bars like the Alte Lampe and right near Hosi a gay organization that does a lot of wonderful things for the Gay community. It also is located right off several of the bus, tram and subway lines.
Take a Video tour of the Sauna Frisco…and see what everyone raves about. It is the personal treatment and cleanliness of this Sauna that will keep you coming back time after time. The staff and management are just wonderful and treat everyone like family. This may not be the biggest sauna in Wien but it sure makes you feel welcome as soon as you step in the door.
If you just want to get away from the everyday stress and relax in so many different wonderful ways I can’t recommend this place more. I believe that they are the only gay sauna in the Vienna area with a hot tub-whirlpool and a special bio sauna and as you can see when you go to their site so much more to offer every one of all ages. They have a great masseuse and very reasonable prices of only 45 Euro for a full hour massage that made me feel like a million dollars. It is a GREAT PLACE to have a drink also. It has a full bar. I had a special drink that had Aloe in it and it was wonderful. When you go there you have to give it a try. Also with our beer and drinks we had complementary chips and snacks that were brought there from Hungary. If you become hungry they also have a special of the day all at a really GREAT LOW price.
They are open every day but Tuesday and you can’t beat the entrance price of 14 Euro per person and 8 Euro after 9 p.m. or on Monday 2 can get in each with a locker for only 18 Euro. Manny and I give this place gets 5 stars out of 5 for its friendly staff and cleanliness and also a GREAT place to meet new friends. There is something for every age and taste from relaxation rooms, Movie room, Sauna, Steam rooms, a sling room and so much more upstairs for your pleasure and enjoyment. Don’t miss this truly home town feeling Sauna. I can’t recommend it enough. If you’re in Vienna you have to try this place out if you haven’t already done so. You might even see Manny and me there.
